If the link sender sent the link with the group's general understanding that it is an adopt link, then the clicker simply made a goof. However, if the link sender claimed it was something else (said it was something else or someone asked for a link to another page and the sender sent that link instead), then the sender was definitely acting really scummy. Depending on who the group members are (friends), I wouldn't blame the clicker for trusting the sender. In this case, the sender may violate Rule 1.1 (not being friendly and deliberately causing trouble for other users). If it's the latter case, your friend might wanna seek a moderator's opinion on this (report it?) and provide them with the full context of how this took place. [Read more] |

The culprit for the delay being Lauri's insistence to adjust the car seat and mirrors due to his difference in height in comparison to its usual driver. Driving with the seat and mirrors all over the place would be so irresponsible! Then he also dillydallied around by making sure seat belts were used and assigned a map reader. He'd rather not have to try to navigate himself while also driving in an environment he hadn't driven in before. They wouldn't be apprehending any criminals or saving any worlds if they died in a car crash. Thankfully, no crashes were had during the ride and no puke ended up in the car so the first part of the plan turned out to be an outstanding success. Exiting the vehicle, Lauri left his coat behind on the car seat, not wanting it restricting himself. Kendall's insistence to attempt turning the car into a fridge had accustomed him to a chillier temperature well enough to stroll around in a T-shirt anyway. But promptly after, things went slightly sideways. As Kendall strode ahead for their destination, Lauri couldn't help but notice the numbers didn't add up. They weren't all there yet, which wasn't good. "Should we-" he started just as Kendall flung the door wide open and their adversary was revealed waiting for them right on the other side. Oh, that's bad. It looked like they knew they were coming. Lauri stood frozen as the Assassin stole Kendall's sunglasses accompanied with the cocky bad guy chatter. As Kendall actually started the fight with the unfortunate demise of his sunglasses, Lauri backed a couple of steps away from the immediate area of fighting. He'd be doing no one any good if he accidentally got himself electrocuted or stabbed. As the two of them exchanged few blows, Lauri let his eyes wander, hastily scanning the outside of the building for any signs of Assassin backup or surprises. But as Kendall pointed out, this thing is like six stories tall and there's just so many windows... And his attention was soon stolen by the arrival of a car, one of theirs in fact. Except the driver made no move to get up from the car. Wrinkling his brow in confusion and disbelief, Lauri whipped his gaze between the Assassin circling the now handcuffed Kendall and their car-bound new arrival, unsure of what to do with the situation. However, it turned out handcuffs weren't in fact the super-weapon the Assassin seemed to think and she ended up making closer acquaintances with a wall. With that little breather granted to them, Lauri took a moment to assess for damage, but Kendall didn't seem to be particularly injured and he couldn't help with the handcuffs. So, for now, he merely voiced his concern: "Do you think there's more of them?" Though perhaps it was possible that this woman was indeed arrogant enough to knowingly walk into this confrontation alone... [Read more] |

![]() District 1 Oh no. Here it goes. Dread filled Kallo's being as the train ride came to a stop and the joyous crowds outside felt more suffocating than the metal tube they had previously been stuffed in. And the relief of being herded indoors again, away from the prying eyes of the public, was anything but that. There, Kallo's demeanor went from meek to defiant as he was manhandled. They didn't even let him wash himself and any protests of how he knew how to shave his already smooth face were met with indifferent silence. He might as well not have spoken at all or be capable of doing so. It truly was as if they were playing with a life-size doll. Nothing he said made a difference and going beyond noncooperation in his physical protests was, well... a bad idea. The memory of that one time he had put his hands on these leeches to get their hands off him after his victory was enough to squash the urge to fight back in his brain. There was no escape. As always. So he gave up and the rest of the ordeal went by in a haze. He couldn't really make sense of what was being talked around him as they went about finishing cleaning and dressing him up, it all boiled down to noise alongside the rest of the hustle and bustle. Wait. Why was he being dressed? He couldn't really remember what was happening or how he got there. He frowned down in confusion at an unfamiliar face as the stranger fastened a belt around his waist. What was he supposed to be doing here? Oh no. He couldn't remember what he was supposed to do. Sebastos was going to be disappointed. He couldn't really remember why that filled him with panic and sorrow but his lack of understanding did nothing to dampen the intense feeling. His throat closed up as he found it hard to breathe through the dread. Why was it so important that he did not disappoint? The weight of a jacket placed on his shoulders was enough to knock the air trapped in his lungs out and allow him to take a fresh breath. Off to the side, a woman dressed in an elegant black suit was fitting a pure white jacket onto a younger man. She went about raising the collar up just right, creating more volume around the shoulders together with the golden shoulder pads to accentuate the masculine V shape. The matching white trousers were void of added details to balance out the more busy top. The hem of the jacket was short, undoubtedly to show off the black belt decorated with glittering diamonds adorning the man's waist. It matched with his black shoes and hair. Despite the splashes of gaudier details, the outfit was still fairly simple and the man did look pretty handsome in it. The feeling of rings being pushed onto a couple of his fingers distracted him from his observations just as the woman placed some onto the man's fingers as well, a little added dash of gold to go with the- Oh right. That's him. He had a name too, right? Yes. Kallo. Yeah, that was it. Who is Kallo? As the woman lead him to sit in a chair, he slowly managed to grasp onto the answers floating around in his head as he watched the woman apply makeup on his face in the mirror. He was being dressed for the opening ceremony. Because he was going to fight in the Quarter Quell. It wasn't important he didn't disappoint. It shouldn't be anymore. He raised a hand to his cheek to touch the little diamonds the woman was now gluing onto his face, but she quickly slapped his hand away. Wouldn't want him to disrupt the drying glue. Or whatever one uses to stick things on skin, he wasn't exactly privy to how that works. He ignored the little huff of annoyance from the woman as he scrunched up his face in his examination of his reflection and the little gems spreading from under his eyes onto the sides of his face. They were surely made in District 1. Their sole purpose being an exhibition piece for the Capitol so his District could say "Look what we've made! Aren't we great?" The other Districts at least contributed something of importance to keep the nation as a whole running. But District 1? All they did was prop up the Capitol with frivolous luxuries. He is a frivolous luxury. Kallo remembered why he was angry. He went to stand up from his chair but his stylist stopped him with a hand on his shoulder and a firm order to stay still. He dug his nails into his palms as he balled his hands into fists to will himself to obey. Almost done. He opted to glare down at his hands instead of the mirror for the rest of the ordeal. Except that was only the first of the ordeals this show and tell would have to offer. Kallo wasn't at all enthusiastic to step onto that first chariot. But he'd do it nonetheless because he would end up in that chariot one way or another. He'd rather avoid being chained to it like Mr. Wanton Violence. District 7, Kallo counted from the chariots. Huh. Perhaps in a bid to delay his own chariot confinement, Kallo lingered to eye the chained tribute with curiosity for a moment. He wasn't surprised the man had received such special treatment after the incident with the peacekeeper, he was just unsure of what to make of the attitude the man showed. He didn't seem to care about pissing off the Capitol in the least, which was confusing but also both frightening and inspiring. Didn't make him any less stupid or crazy though. Probably best to avoid pissing him off without good reason. For now, he needed to get his butt into this blasted chariot, which he did reluctantly. Since Lakshmi was going to be plopped down next to him, he could exchange a few words with her. But it'd probably be better to talk to her later when all this hubbub had been suffered. ...Though she most likely didn't share his feelings on this ceremony nonsense, no kindred victim to complain to on this little ride. A shame. [Read more] |

![]() District 1 Now that he had plans other than throwing in the towel, Kallo began to second-guess his conviction to keep everything to do with the Hunger Games at arm's length. Especially when it came to the other victors. Take Mr. Wanton Violence here for example. Kallo eyed the beat up peacekeeper on the floor with some form of bewilderment, unsure of what to make of the scuffle that unfolded before their eyes. Shifting his gaze from the victim to the perpetrator as the man went about sitting down and being grumpy, Kallo eyed him for a moment with a puzzled frown. He wasn't sure if the younger man was crazy, stupid, or had a death wish bigger than his. Kallo himself had found himself treading on some thin ice at times and he had never gone so far as to lay a hand on a peacekeeper. For this man, his saving grace was probably their imminent demise as he doubted the Capitol would tolerate such behaviour at any other place in time. The troublemaker would most likely be dead soon anyway so they could save themselves the hassle. The issue for him was that the display made it painfully clear he had very little idea what kind of unpredictable loose cannons he was sharing the train with and that made him even less useful than he already was. Scowling down at his hands, Kallo went back to dragging a nail across his palm. He had to start paying attention. So he relaxed his expression neutral and lifted his head to use his eyes. Not that there was much he could tell about the others by taking a look around. Besides Lakshmi, he did recognize at least the one guy who drew his attention by barking at another attempt to be positive from another tribute, Amonei Ferroth. He didn't know the female torch bearer of positivity but before his own go at the arena, Kallo had followed the Games closely and Amonei wasn't the victor easiest to forget. He had stuck out from the very beginning: A scrawny tribute with little promise from District 2 of all places? It had seemed like he was going to lay low and rely on an alliance with one of the District 1 tributes, but then turned around and killed him and proceeded to go on a rampage that even followed him home. Kallo had assumed the Capitol had gotten rid of the man after the whole family murder debacle but it appeared he had been wrong. Which wasn't great news for him. That made another highly volatile wildcard alongside Mr. Wanton Violence. They even had matching white hair, how fitting. ...Though it seemed white was an unusually common hair color among the victors. Weird. One of said bearers of white hair being another face Kallo somewhat recognized. The woman from District 4 who had an issue with water. The career who didn't like careers. It had been difficult to avoid hearing about her and her contradictions when she won, but that was pretty much as far as his knowledge went. Though it was at least something, the former a possible advantage and the latter something to be wary of. However, he didn't know the other woman she was talking to, she looked rather young so presumably one of the more recent victors. Already forging alliances, eh? Considering it was a budding alliance with at least one person with a guaranteed amount of zero sympathy for his District, it was most likely bad news for him. As Miss Contradiction turned her attention away from her conversation partner to the direction where he was sitting, Kallo in turn shifted his gaze elsewhere. Back to Lakshmi and Mr Cheerleader she had decided to chat up. Whether she was trying to start a fledgling alliance of her own or just being Lakshmi was anyone's guess and Kallo raised a curious eyebrow as he observed the two. Their interactions seemed friendly but there was a hint of a hostile undertone so perhaps it wasn't a dream team in the making after all. Giving Mr. Cheerleader a once-over, Kallo was unable to pin down where he had seen him before. ...Well, not exactly unable, the guy was a victor so he undoubtedly looked familiar from whatever theatrics were cooked up for him afterward but that was far from helpful. He made a mental note to ask Lakshmi about the guy later. [Read more] |

![]() District 1 CW: Some suicidal musings He hadn't said much when the slip of paper with the name "Kallo Hadmer" was pulled, a sharp contrast to his first time as a tribute when he made sure to make confident declarations of bringing pride to his District whenever given the chance. But that time had been different and seemed a lifetime ago. For one, he had volunteered as was expected and, well, that life hadn't been grounded in reality. This life? Kallo was sat in a train headed for his inevitable death with his head down. Hunched as he sat with his forearms braced against his knees, he had his left hand clasped in his right, tracing the nail of his thumb up and down his left palm. Up and down. Up and down. Up and down. The repetitive motion and sensation grounding him to reality as his mind attempted to wander. Namely, to his inevitable death. Because it was inevitable. The two outcomes were the same as before, either he'd die or he'd win, and he didn't think he could win this time around. Not because of the competition, even though they're undoubtedly more formidable than the last, but because he just... couldn't. He had trouble keeping his head straight in training matches against real people and any hesitation would be ruthlessly exploited when it wasn't just training. Though even if he could have any chance of winning, he didn't want it. Not anymore. So he was going to die. Maybe he would just blow himself to kingdom come before the horn went off and the bloodbath commenced, at least that'd be- His train of thought was conveniently halted with a small jolt as a whistle pierced through any other chatter that might've been present and Kallo had tuned out. The interruption stilled his fingernail seesaw for only a moment before he started again, not moving his head as his eyes slid up to search for the whistler as he spoke. And boy did the guy speak. Kallo didn't know where the young man got his upbeat attitude from or if it was genuine, but it definitely did nothing to cheer him up. Shifting his eyes back down to stare at his hands, Kallo pressed his nail hard into the center of his palm. What is there to celebrate? What does he have? Other than a life that was never really his to begin with. Not much to lose there so, in a way, he was fortunate compared to a lot of the others. No agonizing over friends and family left behind, one of his greatest assets by design. But other people had things. His female counterpart, Lakshmi, being a part of "other people." Kallo lessened the pressure on his poor palm as he finally lifted his head up a bit, in a bid to glance at his appointed partner in death. He didn't really know her that well since she was tossed into the Hunger Games several years after him and he never had an interest in socializing with his fellow victors. What he had gathered of her was that she seemed like a decent enough person. Or as decent as a victor could be. He could help her win and that would help him as well. That would be a better path than his other two options, right? It had to be. Then his death would mean at least something even though his life hadn't. Relaxing his posture, Kallo released his palm from its plight as he merely rested his hand in his grasp now. His mind made, he let out a small puff of air accompanied by a faint snicker. It'd also be his penance for Tayla. [Read more] |

♡ - Character Name Kallo Hadmer | ♫ ♡ - Age 27 ♡ - Gender Male ♡ - Sexuality Gay ♡ - District District 1 ♡ - Appearance ![]() Dark haired and dark eyed, Kallo wasn't neglected in the genetic lottery. He has a fairly handsome face he keeps clean shaven, which gives the impression of someone generally put together with his neatly groomed short hair. Despite being well-built, Kallo isn't the most intimidating person you could come across. He stands at 5'8'' but often appears a bit shorter due to his tendency to stand hunched, which can create a timid impression. He's not particularly fussed about how other might see him though as he's no fan of attention and thus acts and dresses accordingly as well. ♡ - Personality Kallo is good at following instructions. That is what his most valuable quality has always appeared to be and what he used to derive a sense of pride from as well. Not so much anymore. He'd like to still be as uncomplicated as he once was, but no one comes out of a Game the same. Now he's stuck second-guessing everything, including who he is and who he wants to be, and oftentimes can't find a satisfactory answer to anything. He's confused and angry. Angry at the world and those who run it but also at himself for being a part of it. So answering the question "Who is Kallo?" is no simple task as even Kallo doesn't know that. All he does know is that he wants to be better, which still isn't a simple goal as what "better" means can be debatable. The best version of him used to be the one who could master every weapon he could get his hands on and be able to kill anyone with whatever means necessary while making a good show of it. But when he went and did just that, none of it felt good. His trainer's declarations of pride that he had previously delighted in turned hollow. The reality of killing people in a game of survival for the amusement of the Capitol turned out to be rather different than the picture that had been constructed in his head. So, fueled by PTSD and survivor's guilt, Kallo regrets his past path in life and loathes any recognition. He's tried to move on and forget the whole thing, but it obviously doesn't just work that way. If he could just be a farmer or something living a nice quiet life with no expectations, that'd probably be nice. ♡ - Alignment ??? Wants to be good. ♡ - Strengths / Weaknesses Having been rigorously trained in close and ranged combat in a variety of weapons or without, Kallo is very formidable in a fight. He's also no stranger to basic survival training and knows how to keep himself alive against mother nature as well. It'd be downright unfair if his skill wasn't now shackled by his mind. He doesn't want to hurt another person and might not be able to if forced into such a situation. ♡ - Known Family None ♡ - Password Pollux ♡ - Life in the first arena and afterwards ![]() Being an orphan with no knowledge of
who his parents were, Kallo was a great candidate to train for The
Games and he turned out to be an excellent investment and success
for District 1.
Kallo was the tribute he was supposed to be. Scoring a 10 in his individual assessment, he went on to start with a bang in the Bloodbath. He killed a District 6 tribute because she was an easy kill and another from District 10 because he came between him and supplies. From then on, he and his female counterpart, Tayla Perrin, went on to form an alliance with District 2 to thin out the numbers of the contestants remaining. They started from the most formidable opponents, most urgently District 4, wasting no time with eliminating the biggest threats. Once there was only four other opponents left, Kallo and Tayla turned on their allies, ruthlessly stabbing them in the back and taking District 2 out of the game. It was a risky move, considering they were now outnumbered, but they preferred to get an upper hand on their fellow careers by taking them by surprise instead of leaving them last. It was a move that put them in a bit of a disadvantageous position as the other four tributes had banded together while they were infighting. Kallo and Tayla might've been better in skill but the power of numbers is not to be scoffed at. They went on the offensive anyway and set up an ambush for them, which didn't go exactly to plan but worked out perfectly for Kallo. They managed to execute two tributes, Districts 7 and 12, before they found the tables being threatened to be turned on them. Kallo saw an opportunity. He knew he had to kill Tayla too. It was inevitable. It was what he was told to do. Yet, he dreaded that final showdown so he gave it away. He left her behind and she took the remaining District 3 tribute down with her. That left only Kallo and a District 7 tribute, both of them tired and injured. He had two options on how to approach the final kill: Either he could wait it out and let the arena kill her or he could hunt her down and force a fight. Objectively, the former was the wiser approach as she was lacking in sponsors and thus far less likely to outlast him. But the latter option made for a better show. The last two tributes facing off in a final fight to the death to avenge their partners that had died in the last clash. Perfect theater. So Kallo went with option 2 and he made sure to herd her in front of the cameras beforehand for the greatest viewing experience. The fight itself wasn't very balanced in truth but he made it appear more so. Kallo had the upper hand and they both knew it even though the other tribute knew how to handle her axe, but he dragged it out. He let her injure and disarm him before finishing her off with a hidden knife to the heart for maximum dramatic effect. Thus, sealing his victory with a total of 7 kills. In the end, he was an "ideal" tribute, a favorite who went on to achieve a cold and clean win. But once the adrenaline-filled fight for survival was done with, reality set in and Kallo was truly molded into a different person by the end of it all. As Kallo's post-arena life unfolded, the once obedient puppet turned difficult as he found a budding desire to be a person instead of a thing. Previously, no family had just meant no distractions, but now it also meant no blackmail material. Soon, it started becoming apparent that they couldn't whip him up to shape to smile convincingly at the cameras and he wasn't doing great mentoring either. He'd space out and freeze up and generally be of little help. Lucky for everyone, District 1 actually has other victors to prance around so eventually they let Kallo just fade from the public eye. Lucky or unlucky for Kallo, he still had some wealthy and influential fans who were entertained by his newly acquired uppity defiance so they didn't bother to find an excuse to remove him more permanently. However, as he couldn't find a new path to replace the one he was trying to reject, Kallo lived an empty life of trying to be forgotten after he had achieved exactly what he had thought he had wanted ever since he could remember. That is, until his name was pulled for this blasted Quarter Quell as luck decided his fate was to repeat what shattered his character the first time around. Unfortunately for the viewers, the Kallo stepping in for another round is a very different Kallo than the one who won the 88th Hunger Games. I'm not super familiar with this world as of now since I haven't read/seen everything and it's been a long time, but I'll work to rectify that a bit. Meanwhile, just let me know if anything doesn't make sense in-universe at any point and I'll fix it. [Read more] |

I don't know how much the shiny rod actually increases your odds, but it's no worse than the super rod when it comes to what you can catch. So it's just an upgrade and there's no reason to not use it anyway. I'd wager fishing with the shiny rod has better chances of getting a shiny than a non-chain shiny. I wouldn't be as confident about betting if it's better or worse than chain-shiny odds though, but I'd probably lean no. [Read more] |

Though any horrifying images of puke in the car he might have started conjuring up were soon wiped away by a very welcome distraction in the form of Kendall speaking again. Exhaling a puff of air, a smile overtook Lauri's features as he shifted on his feet. "If I didn't, I wouldn't be much of a teammate, would I?" He brushed it off with a chuckle, but it was nice to be appreciated nonetheless and he was far from immune to the warm fluffy feelings of knowing his attempt to help succeeded in some way. Kayleigh's call tempered his dorky smile somewhat though and Lauri raised a mildly amused eyebrow at Kendall. He wasn't sure what that jab was about but he wasn't going to ask either. Opening the driver's side door in accordance with Kayleigh's urging to get a move on, Lauri leaned on the open door lightly as he surveyed the rest of their gathered company. "Think we'll get another passenger?" he asked the other man without looking at him. It seemed at least one of the others had moved to his own car so they didn't all have to cram themselves into the same vehicle. Not only would that be uncomfortable but also dangerous and illegal. He should have helped Kendall with the key. Though, nothing could be done about it now so he advanced into his own room, taking a moment to observe the interior. He'd have to try to familiarize himself with the place anyway if he were to live there for undetermined amount of time from now on. Maybe he should personalize it a bit somehow, get a plant or two for starters. ...Except who knows how long some of their future missions might be and coming back to a dead plant would be unfortunate. So perhaps something that doesn't need as much watering and attention. A succulent or a cactus maybe? But that was a question for later. For now, Lauri crawled into bed to get some sleep before the following day's mission. Although it took him some time to actually fall asleep so he wasn't the most well rested he has ever been the next morning. He'd just have to deal with it though. As Kendall presented his offer along with an indirect question the next morning, Lauri found a little scoff escaping his mouth. A car? Did he have any idea what those end up costing you!? ...Well, presumably he did since he had one. Lauri could take the offer though, since he did still have his driver's license and as far as he knew, it should be valid in America as well. The issue would probably be that he hadn't driven a car in years. His thoughts were soon directed towards their upcoming assassin showdown though and he nervously shifted around from one foot to another, side-eyeing the little mom-son interaction that followed the little announcement Kayleigh delivered. He frowned a little as Kendall walked away from the brief exchange and headed for his car. The young man surely didn't seem to be making himself many favors to not be treated like a child. But he probably shouldn't bring that up. Taking out his phone, Lauri quickly checked the location they were sent to get back on track and soothe his nerves a bit. Having a precise map of where they were going helped put his rigid mind at ease and stay on task. With a quick nod to Kayleigh, he followed Kendall to the car as he did need a ride of some variety. "Well, I don't have a car," Lauri started as he neared the young man and his car, gesturing to any and all empty space on the parking lot where he might have put his car if he had one. "And I can drive, but it's been a long while." Whether that's a better option than hangover-brain was up for debate. Speaking of which... Lauri glanced back towards the others before turning back to face Kendall, lowering his voice, "How's the hangover? Got any painkillers for it?" He assumed his power wouldn't be able to help Kendall there since it wasn't exactly an injury or an illness, just bad decisions. Though, admittedly, he had never tried to cure a hangover. As the mission to return the stolen property (or whatever was left of the stolen property) was put into motion, he was quick to move in to lend his aid. A hangover worse than what may already be ahead in the other man's future probably wouldn't bode well for meeting any mommy standards, so this was definitely a good development. Grabbing one of Kendall's wrists, he slung the other man's arm over his shoulders as he slid next to him to support his wobbly form. Thanks to their height difference, they fit together quite nicely. Snaking an arm around Kendall's waist as they began their descend down the stairs, Lauri kept his eyes on their feet to make sure there would be no tripping and tumbling down the stairs. "I'm sure Barron will be happy to see his lost bottle again, maybe he won't even kill you if you apologize for kidnapping it," he attempted to lighten the mood a bit with a small snicker as they descended. Based on what little Lauri had seen of him, this Barron bartender at least seemed like a polite enough fellow not to kill thieves in front of witnesses so there should be no mortal danger tonight. Though the question was whether the man would even be behind the bar anymore. There had been no sighting of him on a key retrieving mission so he might be. However, that might also mean he had decided to leave, which would be unfortunate. So, as they reached the bottom of the stairs, Lauri finally felt it safe to detach his eyes from their feet and lift his attention to where the bar stood. [Read more] |

Trying not to be too forward, he placed a hand on Kendall's shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. "You don't need to apologize for being human," he began, giving the other man his best supportive smile, "And you are better than Koda. Because you're here and he's..." Lauri trailed off a bit, glancing to the side as his smile faltered, "Out there screwing up the world." But he soon snapped his focus back on Kendall and squeezed his shoulder a bit more firmly to demand the other man's attention, his demeanor growing more serious, "But you don't have to meet any expectation alone tomorrow. We're here to help you, right?" Even though the introductory meeting wasn't the most encouraging, people still stayed so that was worth something. He glanced down the hall of doors where some of the back-up had disappeared to but quickly returned his attention to Kendall and extinguished the frown that threatened to sneak onto his face with another smile, "I don't know how committed the rest are but I'm not going anywhere before all this is done." ...Even though he wasn't going to be much help in actually taking anyone down, much less the big boss himself. But he could be the best support he was able to be. "Though I can't tell you everything will go back to normal again if we manage to bring him back," Lauri added, his smile dropping, "Because it won't. Families change and you can't control it, but you can choose how you deal with it." Not that him being able to relate a tiny bit made their experiences even close to comparable. However, he could still see clinging to what their family was and trying to force it to be that way again was nothing but a recipe for disappointment. There was no telling if the 'bringing him back' part was even possible to begin with... [Read more] |

The agreement mixed with hesitation further put him at ease despite the equally awkward end to the handshake. Relaxing his pose, Lauri returned the smile on his face as he nodded at Kendall, "Yeah, I get that. But I wouldn't have offered if I didn't mean it and people worried about being that guy usually aren't that guy, so..." Unsure of how to continue, he trailed off as he attempted to find more words. Though, in a weird turn of events, mr oil fire came to the rescue as he hopped along and snatched his key. So he had decided to stay after all. Raising his eyebrow, Lauri trailed the man go about his merry way seemingly without a care in the world before settling his eyes on Kendall again. Exhaling a little chuckle, he jokingly proposed a counter offer, "And hey, if I get too annoyed, you can always return the favor, right?" [Read more] |

Kayleigh, however, seemed to be working on that for now, but not in the most diplomatic way. The shift in her tone and posture as she addressed mister oil fire had Lauri instinctively straighten up a bit. He once again reminded himself not to be late again. The announcement of tomorrow morning's task had him growing increasingly tense. That was sooner than he would've assumed even though this was a pressing matter to be dealt with asap. He had some major doubts how they'd work together when they didn't even know each other or what each of them is capable of yet. This was far from ideal. To settle the brewing storm in his mind for now, Lauri just had to believe Kayleigh knew what she was doing and she thought they could deal with one assassin, disorganized like this or not. So he didn't feel like the 'compliment' he received from the younger half of the leadership was exactly warranted. True, running around like a headless chicken wasn't a part of the plan but... that's what he may end up doing as the lack of a distinct plan had him nervous. Though he had no time to start forming a response as the young man didn't intend it to be conversation, continuing straight to the bar. Lauri watched with a frown as the other man shamelessly stole a bottle from the bartender and continued on his not-so-merry way. So, yeah, not the clearest head. His frown deepening, Lauri planted his hands on his hips as he watched the alcohol thief disappear up the stairs. He probably still shouldn't impose. But he didn't need to, an invitation should suffice, he was here to help after all. That was the plan. With a soft sigh, he dropped his hands from his hips as he smoothed out his frown. Then, he followed his target up the stairs. ...Which thankfully didn't come off as weird considering he was supposed to go key hunting up there anyway. Finding both the man and the keys, he casually joined the other man in going through the keys. Forgoing the opportunity to snoop through the names attached to them, he instead addressed his teammate. "If you need a person to rant to, I wouldn't mind," offered with a small smile, "Since my job is to make sure you're in the best shape to save the world and all." Which was true, though slightly out of his field of expertise. Or more than slightly actually, he was definitely no licensed therapist. But venting at an actual person rather than merely thin air might be better than nothing for some. Spotting his key in the box as he glanced down to prevent awkwardness, Lauri was reminded of the missing formalities he had neglected. "Oh, I'm Larry by the way," he hastily added, offering his hand up for a shake on auto-pilot. As he did so, he also remembered Kayleigh had already used his actual name before. So in case this guy had noticed that, he awkwardly proceeded to explain, "It's easier to pronounce for people from around here." Mission to avoid awkwardness in grave danger. [Read more] |

Regardless, if he was already coming up with team strategies when they haven't even really started yet, that was a good sign as well. For now, it served to restore a little bit of Lauri's faith in this endeavor and set a good first impression. The young man seemed to be committed and his head clear despite the bad hand life dealt him, definitely not the worst option to be stuck with for something as big as this. Though the whistle assaulting his ears the next moment halted Lauri's musings and he winced slightly more out of surprise than anything. He crossed his arms as he shrunk back a bit upon hearing the mild accusation of starting arguments, opting to remain quiet again. Maybe he shouldn't have drawn attention to himself like that and he certainly shouldn't continue doing so. He didn't feel the need to voice any agreement with her words either, he wouldn't be here if he wasn't in. He had already decided and screwing up his own plans if he absolutely didn't have to wasn't exactly his style. [Read more] |
