WELL my art tablet decided to spontaneously stop working and if I can't get it fixed, obviously Death Cats designs are gonna take a backseat because i physically cannot create good-looking designs with a mouse. Yes: Boosts will still be happening Yes you can still send Death Cats exploring/etc But, I can't make any new death cats til I either get a new art tablet or get this one to work. Update: Shoutout to my cousin 'cuz he is the tech support guy apparently, it's just a dodgy connection to my tablet. It works it's just, gotta be careful that the wire's connected extra securely. Obviously most of you are aware of my huge to-do list by now and how it's not moving too much. As well as the lack of an egg drop so far. So I'm going to explain, and explain my plans going forward to maybe... Limit this in the future. First off, it's December. Most of you know it as the Christmas month/the holidays/whatever - I know it as help there's too much to do. There's 6 birthdays in my family this month all before Christmas including my own, which often leaves us busy with visits/etc, as well as me helping my mom + dad wrap/deliver presents to some of the outer family [aunts/uncles, cousins, older siblings, etc] No other month should have the level of delay as this month does. Obviously, these are things that are, inherently, unavoidable. It is what it is. When I worked on another closed species, I would often put the species before everything else meaning I didn't have time to draw or relax for myself very often. Which led me to be pretty crushed mentally because it was just, constant working to meet deadlines and no chance for a break to properly relax and have fun creating art. I am not doing this with Death Cats. I will take breaks to work on personal projects - simply for my own mental health. I don't want to break myself for the sake of "making more designs." I'm still debatably human, not a machine. Though, these projects also won't take complete priority over Death Cats. Essentially I'll be balancing my own art/freedom with creating designs, to hopefully avoid the crushing burnouts I faced in the past. The first big thing that can be addressed is the Event Pairings - I love making them and I get the feeling you guys love the idea of the mechanic. Obviously being flooded with requests can be a bit much so instead of keeping them open all event I'll have limited slots throughout the event, perhaps on a weekly basis - with priority being given to those who haven't done a pairing yet. Slots will probably be between 2-4 pairings per opening. Skull Fragments - as you know there's been a sizeable delay on those, especially because they involve coming up with an entirely new design instead of just mixing things from other designs. I definitely appreciate the themes given! I know I usually prioritise the pairings over these because the pairings are easier - but I can confirm that these are not forgotten. There isn't much I can change on these to make it easier/faster - but I'll try to keep them in mind a little more than I used to. Egg drops - I said I'd do at least 2 this month and I wasn't lying. In Halloween I made an egg drop specifically on the day of Halloween itself - I intend to do the same on Christmas [yes, I know people are often busy/etc, but the eggs will be sitting there, don't worry!] Obviously in the previous event I did some drops before the event itself. Given everything else, I don't think I can this time. Hopefully in future event cycles* I'll be better prepared - as for this first cycle I have to make all the art, all the mutations, etc and designs, which can be pretty time consuming and lead to burnout if I push myself too much - which is something I'm trying to avoid at all costs. *To clarify what I mean by "event cycles" - Halloween/Christmas and the future Valentines & Easter events will be a part of the "first cycle" - this means it is the first time I'm executing each of these events and therefore takes significantly more work than the future cycles will [because I'll have everything at base already made!] I know some of ya'll will say "you don't need to explain yourself, of course you have a real life/other responsibilities" but honestly, I, personally, just really wanted to be transparent about my mentality going forwards and how I'm trying to work on things, instead of leaving you guys in the dark! There's no need to publicly respond to this post either, it's just me trying to get my thoughts out into the open so you guys know what's going on, because you guys deserve to know. They've decided to help out the wandering Death Cats in their realm, and as a result have unlocked some "boosts" for them! -+1 Exploration Roll per Death Cat for 4 full days [96 Hours] --This will function like the stamina boost, where it'll essentially be a free +5 items per set of explorations! I may have vastly overestimated my capabilities in being able to get things done fast. I'm not changing anything about the species, that's for sure. I've still got plenty left to do. I just wanted to apologise for how long it's taking me to get to things. How the egg drop I have planned may have to be put off a little more. I only have the motivation in me to crack out about 2-3 designs per day, as of right now. Which, considering until today I've still been working on finishing up the reindeer's designs, I've been splitting my attention between both. So please bear with me. I'm gonna try to get everything done as soon as I can, I'm gonna get at least 2 egg drops out this event, as for when I'm not entirely sure, but at least 2. I'll obviously be slowly working on the backlog of pairings, I've got the traits rolled for most of them it's just getting around to actually doing them, and obviously the overdue skull fragments, it goes without saying I'm gonna try to slowly crack things out.
