"I'm afraid I'm going to have to stay. The Forerunners hold the Mantle of Responsibility. That means that we make sure that things that could pose a threat to the world- that's you- can't do so. Fighting me will only reaffirm my decision. And who's this Glaurug?" The Didact asked.

Jack was growing irritated. The Forerunner wasn't backing down and he was acutely aware of the sort of danger Glaurug could be in.

After a while, they reached the edge of the forest. He briefly thought about how the trade off would work. There was only so long that Katu could keep the trainer hostage. There was no guarantee that the Sableye wouldn't circle back around as soon as the trainer was safe. He shrugged the man off his shoulders and lowered him to the ground. Then, the Lucario stepped back to look at the Sableye.

The scans came back. He decided he'd gone far too long without servicing his armor. But the names sounded familiar.

"Okay. Let's say there's something to your story. Then I can reasonably conclude that you're the source of the energy spikes." The Didact said.

"Great, the detective is done. Satisfied now? Can you leave?" Jack asked.

The Didact glared at him and took a single step in the direction of the demon.

"I wouldn't." Jack said, using his magic to hold the Forerunner's foot. The Didact felt the hold and his frown deepened. With a grunt, he ripped his foot out of the hold. "I will be going no where." The Forerunner growled. It was Jack's turn to frown.

Hunter inwardly groaned. He had entirely forgotten about the portal device. It was fortunate, he thought, as he threw the trainer over his shoulders, that Katu had remembered. "Come on." He told the Sableye. "I'll leave you two on the edge of the forest."

"Wait, no-" Didact began.

"Yes." Jack interrupted. "You just flew into a city and began taking to those gods that destroyed your race all those years ago."

The Didact crossed his arms, looking carefully at Sliuril and Copper, studying them in silence. Eventually, he pointed at Jack without taking his eyes off the two sisters. "I never believed those old stories." He muttered, now silently ordering his armor to run scans on the two.

"The Sundering War? No, that can't be right. That battle is an old legend, w-warriors are given honorific titles based on the supposed Forerunner combatants. For instance, I'm Ur-Didact, Shadow of Sundered Star. It was against... gods, essentially." The Forerunner said.

"My, isn't he a sharp one?" Jack commented dryly.

Hunter finsihed his berry, feeling some strength return to him, and sighed. "Come on, then." He said, straightening up and walking towards the trainer. "The sooner they're out of here, the better." The Lucario shrugged.

That caught the Didact's attention. "Older than most Forerunners." He said. "And why would you have any reason to remember me? I don't think we've met."

Even as he spoke, he thought about what Sliuril had said. Several months- that wasn't acceptable. He'd have to find some way to figur it out here.

Jack elected to remain silent.

Hunter watched the Sableye go. "I guess trainer's do make Pokémon soft." He muttered. Not that there had been anything 'soft' about the fight. He turned to Katu. "Good thinking." He nodded. He walked slowly over to the sack that they had the berries in it and grabbed another one. Once he thought he was up to it, he used Heal Pulse on each of his companions.

Didact decided that he was talking to Sliuril. "Okay. How would one take it up directly with these Two?" He asked. "And I haven't really been keeping up with current affairs, what's the Crawler?" The Forerunner asked, maintaing a level tone.

"Look, if we told you it was dealt with, would you leave?" Jack asked.

"No." The Didact replied plainly.

"Thank you." Hunter groaned to Katu. Every instinct told him to go and punch the Sableye as hard as he could, nothing too fancy, but he didn't want to provoke it now that it had stopped. Besides, he wasn't entirely sure that he could stagger over to the Mega without tripping.

The Didact took a deep sigh, closed his eyes and held the bridge of his nose. "So you're... all in charge. Got it." He looked from one to the other. "Okay. I'm here about energy spikes in the area. Big ones. The type that could prove to be very dangerous for this entire planet. Could any of you tell me what could have caused those?" He asked, keeping his tone civil.

Beneath the Mask, Jack was grinning. He leaned towards the others. "Who's telling him?"

Hunter stopped firing as he saw that the Sableye had begun deflecting the Aura Spheres. The Lucario was tired and in pain, not to mention fairly dizzy. He groaned as the Pokémon bused Recover. Wincing, he moved forward to get back into close combat range. It probably wasn't a smart move, but he couldn't just sit there.

The Cryptum touched down with barely a sound. An opening formed in the spherical ship and a large ramp extended down to the ground. Jack watched as a pair of heavy boots, with orange lines running through them, came in to view. The figure began walking down the ramp, each step accompanied by a clink. As more of the figure came into view, Jack realised just how tall the Forerunner was. Taller than him... taller than the King... a lot taller than the King. Finally, the alien was in full view. Armour covered every inch of its body and is carried a gun, but made no attempt to point it at any of them.

"Right," the Didact said, "which one of you is in charge?"

Hunter clenched his eyes, trying to clear his head. He opened to realise that there was some distance between the Sableye and himself. Acting more out of instinct than anything else, he fired a barrage of Aura Spheres into the Mega's back. Most managed to find their mark.

"I would not recommend trying any of that." Didact growled, the conversation relayed to him through hyper-sensitive microphones. "I am going to land. I am going to come out. And I am going to have a civil conversation. Is that understood?" The Cryptum suddenly bristled with weapons, to reinforce his point.

Jack tilted his head. "Could we say no?" He asked Sliuril and Copper quietly.

Didact wondered at how to proceed in a non-hostile manner. He turned on the ships external speakers. "Does everyone here speak Common?" He suggested.

Jack glanced at Copper. "And let's say I wanted to destroy it. How difficult would that be?" He asked.

The Lucario roared in pain as the Will-O-Wisp found its mark. He turned back to the Sableye and used Quick Attack, but he was still fairly confused and the move barely made contact with his target. This, he thought somewhat groggily, is not going too well.

"Ah, look at you two. So humble." Jack shrugged.

Didact leaned over the desk, looking at the charts and readings displayed on the walls. They had to be wrong. Over the last few days, the energy readings in the human city in the middle of the desert had been fluctuating like crazy. If they were right, he had to know what it was. He certainly didn't want to fight anything as powerful as that. However, as a precaution, he kept the Cryptum's weapons hot as it approached its destination.

Hunter blinked as the Swagger took effect. The sudden shriek Katu gave was enough to distract the Lucario. He looked to see the Tyrunt and the Espeon fighting. Slowly, ignoring the fact that he was completely open to attack, he raised his hand and fired a single Aura Sphere at the Tyrunt.
